The North Woods have been the refuge of men who got away to camp, fish and hunt for over a century. We are dedicated to the idea that women can love the wilderness and don’t have to suffer hard bunks, cold cabins and breakfasts of beer and chili to be here!
Pictured at the right are a pastor, a lawyer and a religious sociologist having a working retreat in Itasca County. In February. And loving it! They (and another pastor taking the picture) snowshoed, hiked, prayed, ate fabulous meals and designed an intricate questionnaire that is the basis for a book.
Other women come to the woods for bridesmaids’ weekends. A big city journalist brought her sewing machine. Sisters make greeting cards and scrapbooks. 50 year olds who were college roomates cook gourmet meals, take long rambling walks, cross-country ski. One particularly adventurous group came north for grouse hunting, then came home to the cabin at night to read books and watch movies in front of the gorgeous fireplace (I heard about Miss Congeniality and Patton!).
We love summer at the lake, but fall and winter are GREAT!!!
Ask us if there is something else we can do for you! We will do everything we can to make your week in the woods unforgettable!
